Prison unrest, SFPD street racing, more heat on the way

SIOUX FALLS S.D. (KELO) — Here are this morning’s top stories with KELOLAND On the GO.

Unrest at the Mike Durfee State Prison in Springfield, S.D. has meant injuries suffered by inmates as well as staff. Through barbed wire, fencing and open windows, inmates at the prison on Wednesday shouted their concerns and frustrations to KELOLAND News.

A team of eight officers with the Sioux Falls Police Department is part of an organized project to stop speeding drivers near the East 10th Street viaduct. Two officers capture the speeds on top of the viaduct using a lidar gun.

It will be another day with slightly warmer air and isolated showers and storms.  Today’s best chance for an isolated storm will be in western South Dakota  Highs will reach the 80s, 90s, and 100s with only more heat to come.
