SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The state and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be assessing flood damage in 30 counties in southeastern South Dakota starting the week of July 15, officials said in a Monday news release.

Damage to individual households and public infrastructure will be preliminary assessed by FEMA and South Dakota Department of Public Safety’s Office of Emergency Management. This assessment will be used to determine the need for a Presidential disaster declaration through FEMA.
