SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Three people are dead after an early morning shooting in southwest Sioux Falls.

Police were called to a home near South Drexel Drive and 58th Street for a disturbance.According to officials they found three adults dead from gunshot wounds when they arrived.

While one of the neighbors heard the gunshots…

“So it’s about 2:45-2:50 in the morning. There was initially like one or two gunshots and then not sure how many more, but there was a round of gunshots,” Melissa Brown, who lives in the neighborhood of the crime, said.

Many woke up confused to see police tape covering the neighborhood.

“I did not hear a single thing. I had all my windows open and everything else. And I heard nothing. No sirens, no nothing. I woke up at about 6:30 this morning to the whole street, blocked off and cop cars everywhere. And I was just, have no idea what was going on,” Tamara Schroeder, who also lives in the neighborhood of the crime, said.

3 dead in Sioux Falls shooting

“We were up until like 11:00 at night and there wasn’t anything till we got up in the morning and saw on our cameras in the backyard that there was a bunch of movement and cops in our backyard and walking across here. But there was absolutely nothing– We were very surprised when there was all this caution tape and six police cars down there,” next-door neighbor Joe Linneweber said.

And while little details are known, everyone in the neighborhood is shocked by what’s happened.

“These were the most normal people ever. Was like her and her boyfriend and her son and they’re like nicest people ever,” Linneweber said.

“This is something we never expect in this neighborhood,” Brown said.

Two other people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A suspect is in custody.

We expect to learn more about the investigation during Monday morning’s police briefing, which we will livestream on KELOLAND.com beginning at 10:30.
