SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The Dell Rapids high school baseball team won their third state championship in the last four seasons, following a 3-2 win over Howard.

The Quarriers scored first with a run in the second inning. That came after a leadoff triple from Cole Ruesink.

Dell Rapids would score two more in the fourth. That included an RBI triple from Tad Tjaden. He later scored on an error. They led 3-0 after four.

Howard made their attack in the sixth inning.

First, they’d get runners aboard for a wild pitch which brought in Colby Claussen. A batter later, Weston Remmers grounded into a fielders choice, which scored another.

However, the Tigers would leave two runners on as they trailed 3-2.

Howard got the tying run aboard in the seventh, but Talan Millage was able to lock down the save.

Jack Henry earned the win throwing 6.1 innings and allowing two runs on four hits, while striking out 9.

Henry was also named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
