SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — It’s the final day of competition at the Sioux Empire 4-H Rodeo taking place at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds in Sioux Falls. Events include team roping, barrel racing and bull riding. The action gets underway at the D. Pirrung Family Arena at 9 a.m. with the Grand Entry. Admission is free.

The Summer Concert Series at Good Earth State Park southeast of Sioux Falls features The Hegg Brothers. The music starts at 4 p.m. A park entrance license is required. Seating is limited so you may want to bring your own lawn chairs or blankets.

2024 Memorial Day programs in SD

The NorthStar Trail Travelers are hosting a Spring Fun Walk at Blue Mounds State Park in Luverne, MN. Registration goes from 9 a.m. to noon at the Eagle Rock Vista on the south end of the park. The walk will be finished by 3 p.m. Lunch includes hot dogs and bratwurst. There’s a $4 registration fee.

It’s the opening weekend at Wild Water West water park west of Sioux Falls. Visitors can enjoy the water slides, lazy river, wave pool plus upgrades to the mini-golf course from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Let Freedom Fly International Air Show features military aircraft flyovers and aerobatic demonstrations at the Pierre Regional Airport. Gates open at 9:30 a.m. The air show runs from 12:30 to 5 p.m.

The local chapter of the Rolling Thunder motorcycle group is hosting dedication of the POW-MIA bench at Veterans Memorial Park in Sioux Falls. The program gets underway at 2 p.m.

Check out the motorcycle decorated with images of the USS South Dakota on display at the Battleship Memorial museum in Sioux Falls. The museum is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through September. Admission is free.

Stensland to close eastside Sioux Falls location Sunday

An exhibit at the Pettigrew Home & Museum in Sioux Falls celebrates the Cathedral District’s 50 years of being on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum is open from noon to 5 p.m.

Enjoy the 80 new sculptures on display in downtown Sioux Falls as part of Sculpturewalk. They’re located in the Eastbank and Cherapa areas, Uptown, the Steel District and the Cathedral District. New this year: an interactive audio tour of the sculptures.

Women: A Century of Change is a traveling exhibit of images taken by National Geographic photographers on display at the Washington Pavilion. You can check out the photos in the Everist Gallery of the Visual Arts Center. The exhibit runs through June.

Also at the Pavilion, the Wells Fargo CineDome & Sweetman Planetarium are featuring Wings Over Water, Magic Globe, Unseen Universe and Cities of the Future.

Movies playing at the historic State Theater in downtown Sioux Falls include Cars, rate G, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, rated PG and Twister, rated PG-13.

New summer releases playing at a theater near you include The Garfield Movie, rated PG, Sight, rated PG-13 and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, rated R.

It’s race night at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, SD. Gates open at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. The races start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for students, free for ages 12 and under.
