SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The Augustana softball team has won 30 straight games and swept through the NCAA Central Regional to punch its ticket to the Super Regionals.

The Vikings will now play Rogers State in Oklahoma in the Super Regionals. To claim the Central Regional crown, the Vikes won three games in Pittsburg, Kan.

After claiming a 1-0 win over Oklahoma Baptist in their opening game, Augie pounded the hosts, Pittsburg State, 7-2 and 9-2. The Vikings avenged their non-conference defeats to the Gorillas back in March, which they pointed to as a turning point of the season.

“Kind of cool – we were talking, it’s just like a full-circle effect,” Augustana senior Gracey Brink said. “To get there and beat them out twice in their home stadium to go on to a Super Regional is pretty awesome.”

Augustana will begin its best-of-three Super Regional Tuesday at noon. The series is slated to wrap up on Wednesday.
