BRANDON, S.D. (KELO) — Racing season gets underway at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon with the Mother’s Day Opener. Gates open at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. The races start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20, $10 for students and free for ages 12 and under.

The Spring Parade of Homes features more than 70 homes on display throughout the Sioux Falls area. You can tour the homes from 1-5 p.m. The parade wraps up next weekend.

The South Dakota Symphony Youth Orchestra performs a concert at the Harrisburg Performing Arts Center. The concert is at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10, $5 for students.

The Summer Concert Series gets underway at Good Earth State Park southeast of Sioux Falls featuring the Back Alley Band. The music starts at 4 p.m. A park entrance license is required.

It’s the final day of business at Antiques on 18th in central Sioux Falls. The store has slashed prices to 75-percent off all merchandise. The hours are noon to 4 p.m.

Mothers get in for free at the Historic Adams House and the Days of ’76 Museum in Deadwood today. The Adams House is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mountain Time. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Growing green thumbs at Sioux Falls Christian

The museum at the USS South Dakota Battleship Memorial in Sioux Falls is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through September. Admission is free.

An exhibit at the Pettigrew Home & Museum in Sioux Falls celebrates the Cathedral District’s 50 years of being on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum is open from noon to 5 p.m.

Women: A Century of Change is a traveling exhibit of images taken by National Geographic photographers on display at the Washington Pavilion. You can check out the photos in the Everist Gallery of the Visual Arts Center. The exhibit runs through June.

Also at the Pavilion, the Wells Fargo CineDome & Sweetman Planetarium are featuring Wings Over Water, Magic Globe, Unseen Universe and Cities of the Future.

Movies playing at the historic State Theater in downtown Sioux Falls include Freaky Friday, rated PG, Mamma Mia!, rated PG-13, and Civil War, rated R.

New in theaters this weekend: Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, rated PG-13.

Enjoy the 80 new sculptures on display in downtown Sioux Falls as part of Sculpturewalk. They’re located in the Eastbank and Cherapa areas, Uptown, the Steel District and the Cathedral District. New this year: an interactive audio tour of the sculptures.
